Branding work and portfolio website for fellow photographer and artist Joe Doucette.
This website needed to house both photography and drawn artwork in a way that didn't feel jarring and separate, but rather, two sides of the same artistic exploration; a mixture of intellectual musings, careful observations, and creative wanderings. In the same spirit, it was decided that the logo and overall feel of the website needed to carry that theme––a dancing of opposites, between sensibility and wonder, warm and cool, soft and strong. The goal was to convey a contemplative and explorative feeling.
In developing the site, the one-page template "Videographer" was used as a base, then customized and built upon to house a robust portfolio divided into 3 categories: illustration, photography (or imagery) and writing (or musings). It needed to be adaptive to multiple projects and free to tell a range of visual stories. For the website header, we filmed a series of out-in-the-field content to summarize a bit of the behind-the-scenes.
